Although we love the name Jack Carlyle for its own merits, when we were choosing the name we were inspired by our families and picked a name to recognize those that have come before us. The name Jack is the first name of my father, and the name Carlyle is a name that has appeared a few times in Becky's family.

Week 11 update:
This week I finally got around to installing the letters on Jack's bedroom wall to spell his name. It was way more tricky than I imagined...
The aftermath of last Thursday's severe thunderstorms-a very large tree split and fell on our neighbor's house. We didn't suffer any damage, and luckily their house didn't look too damaged either. The cleanup crew disposed of the tree by noon on Friday.
Today I paid off my consumer debt. All of it. It feels great! And for the first time in 11 years I have no credit card debt. I'm just recording it to savor what it feels like, and to remind myself to keep working on living within my means. I don't ever want to do that again.
Just in time for daycare costs to kick in starting tomorrow...
My cousin Darren and his wife Annie welcomed their new son, Jacob Stephen Lawson, yesterday, August 27, at 4:02 a.m. He beat out his second cousin Jack for title of "Smallest Peanut" with a birth weight of 5 pounds, 6 ounces. Congratulations, Darren and Annie!
