Jack's First Few Moments from The Fullers on Vimeo.
Here's a video clip of the first few moments of Jack's time on earth. As soon as he was born, he was cleaned up and whisked over to a warming station where a team of pediatricians went to work on him. He had swallowed some meconium in the womb and needed to get his lungs cleared out.
Jack has been becoming a lot more vocal lately. When he is having fun on the playmat he waves his arms and kicks his legs and makes noises that range from cooing to little shouts. It makes us wonder what he's trying to say. Here's some video of him playing.
Becky is playing with jack by mimicking the sounds that he makes to get a reaction out of him. Every so often he seems to notice what she's doing and then he giggles at her.
When we picked up Jack from daycare today the ladies told me that he had refused to take a nap today and instead decided to dedicate some extra effort to his crying. Also, I'm told that he is teething; his hand is constantly going into his mouth, he's more fussy than usual and he's drooling a lot. And all along I thought that's what being a baby was all about! So far though, I can't find any evidence of any teeth in his mouth about to sprout. Just the usual coy gummy smiles. Teething or not, all of this makes for an exhausting day for a little guy, so when we got him home and put him into his high chair for us to have dinner, it didn't take long for the lack of sleep to catch up with him.
We got a cool new highchair for Jack so that he can sit up at the table with us for meals. He's not eating any solids just yet, but maybe this will get him thinking about it. Here's a video of him in his new highchair's maiden voyage.
We got Jack some new toys to play with. In the first part of this video, Jack tests out his new jumperoo, and in the second half, he has a lot to say about his Learn & Groove exersaucer.
It's been a rather unusual week around here, we think mostly due to the time change last Saturday night, as things started to go awry last Sunday. But it hasn't all been bad...we got to celebrate Grandpa Rick's 60th as well...

This one's not for the grandparents so much. Apparently Radiohead did a live Webcast 11/9 and threw some covers in. These are so awesome I don't even know where to begin.

Jack had his 6 month checkup today and it's official: he's a little peanut! the doctors tell us that it's time to get him started on the solid foods and to increase his intake a little bit. So get ready Jack, 'cause we're gonna pump you up! Here on video we have Jack's first bites of (semi) solid foods.
Jack is very fortunate to be on the receiving end of an awesome supply of baby gear from Liam and Karthik; this particular shirt is a Liam special. He wore it to Liam's first birthday party, in honor of the original Ladie's Man, Mr. Liam T. himself.
Liam had the coolest birthday hat ever-it has removable letters from 1-6. We were joking about buying several and then using it forever. Or just keep the one, and use it at birthdays made up of numbers 1-6 (you know, 16, 21, 32, 41, etc.) You could basically never have a double digit birthday, like 33. Oh well, small price to pay!
Jack's been practicing sitting up at school and surprised us by how long he can sit upright by himself wthout any help. As for the sippy cup... we're still working on that one.
Jack has become increasingly more mobile over the last week, and he's more curious than ever. Any time we set him down on the floor, he immediately begins crawling around to inspect anything and everything within reach. The ladies at daycare tell us that at school he is very busy and is crawling all over the room. They have to chase him out from under the cribs. Here's a little snippet of video of jack doing the "army crawl" to get to his toys.
If there's two things Jack knows, it's putting things in his mouth and chewing on them. Even without teeth. Here Jack demonstrates his technique for handling plastic jingle keys.
In the condo in Florida, Jack crawls over to visit, then scrambles off again. He loved carrying around his favorite toy, "Sophie le Girafe", and we both got a kick out of the way it would squeak wherever he went. It helped to always know where he was, even if he'd crawled out of sight.
We spent a beautiful day at Vanderbilt beach in Naples, Florida. Jack loved the beach and had a ball just playing with the sand, finding shells, and slapping at the sand with his little shovel.
